SUPERFAMILY PAPILIONOIDEA

Acacia Skipper

Cogia hippalus

Cogia hippalus, commonly known as the Acacia Skipper, is a small, understated butterfly in the family Hesperiidae. It belongs to the group of pyramid skippers (genus Cogia), named for their angular, triangular wing shape and characteristic resting posture. This species is typically dark brown to gray-brown, with subtle pale or translucent spots on the forewings that may be faint or variable. The underside is usually lighter brown with delicate patterning, helping it blend into dry vegetation and bark. The Acacia Skipper is found in Mexico and Central America, especially in dry forests, scrublands, and open woodland habitats.
