PHYLUM CHLOROPHYTA

​Phylum Chlorophyta, commonly known as the green algae, is a large and diverse group of photosynthetic organisms that occur in marine, freshwater, and terrestrial environments worldwide. Members of this phylum range from microscopic unicellular forms to large multicellular seaweeds and colonial species. They are characterized by the presence of chlorophyll a and b as their primary photosynthetic pigments, giving them their distinctive green color, and they store food mainly in the form of starch within their chloroplasts.
