Family Sclerosomatidae is one of the largest and most widespread families of harvestmen, commonly known as daddy longlegs, within the order Opiliones. Comprising more than 1,300 described species, members of this family are found on every continent except Antarctica and inhabit forests, grasslands, deserts, caves, gardens, and agricultural landscapes. They are recognized by their small, rounded bodies and exceptionally long, slender legs, which allow them to move rapidly over vegetation and the ground. Unlike spiders, harvestmen have a single, broadly joined body rather than a distinct waist, lack silk glands and venom glands, and possess only one pair of eyes.
