Frogs are tailless amphibians belonging to the order Anura and are among the most diverse groups of vertebrates, with more than 7,800 known species distributed on every continent except Antarctica. They are characterized by moist, permeable skin, powerful hind legs adapted for jumping and swimming, large eyes, and a life cycle that typically includes an aquatic tadpole stage followed by metamorphosis into a terrestrial or semi-aquatic adult. Frogs inhabit a remarkable variety of environments, including tropical rainforests, deserts, grasslands, mountains, wetlands, and freshwater ecosystems. Most species are carnivorous, feeding on insects, spiders, worms, and other small animals, while larger species may consume fish, reptiles, birds, or small mammals.
