The Heliopetes lana butterfly is a species found in the southern United States, Mexico, and parts of Central and South America. It inhabits grassy fields, meadows, and open woodlands, where it can be seen flitting between wild flowers. This butterfly is easily identified by its white wings, with a black stripe and spots on the inner edge.
