SUPERFAMILY PAPILIONOIDEA

Hiding Saliana

Calpodes longirostris

The Hiding Saliana butterfly (Calpodes longirostris) is a species of skipper in the family Hesperiidae, commonly known for its swift, erratic flight and distinctive coloration. Like other skippers, it has clubbed antennae with a hooked tip, which is a key feature for identifying members of the Hesperiidae family. This species is found in Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America, inhabiting tropical forests, edges, and clearings. Adults are often observed perching quietly on leaves, sometimes returning repeatedly to the same spot, or flying swiftly along forest paths.
