McGuire's Aguna
Aguna mcguirei
-
McGuire’s Alguna (Aguna mcguirei) is a medium-sized skipper butterfly in the family Hesperiidae, known for its sleek, dark appearance and swift, powerful flight. The long-tailed wings are deep brown to nearly black, often with a subtle bluish or purplish sheen in fresh individuals, and relatively plain compared with more brightly marked skippers. Like other Aguna species, it has a robust body, hooked antennae, and a tendency to perch quietly in shaded forest edges before suddenly darting off. This species inhabits tropical forests and woodland margins, where adults visit flowers for nectar and are most active during daylight hours.
