Zoanthus are a genus of corals within the order Zoantharia that are often found in association with other marine invertebrates, including corals, in shallow and deep-sea environments. Zoanthus are photosynthetic corals. Residing in their flesh are a symbiotic dinoflagellate called zooxanthellae that carries out photosynthesis.
