Genus Tenuirostritermes
Tenuirostritermes cinereus is a species of termite in the family Termitidae. It is found in Central America and North America. T. cinereus feeds on wood and other cellulose-based materials, which they digest with the help of symbiotic microorganisms in their gut. These microorganisms break down the cellulose, allowing the termites to obtain nutrients from the wood. Like other termites, they play a key role in the decomposition of organic material in ecosystems.
