Genus Monomorium comprises a diverse group of small ants in the family Formicidae that are distributed throughout tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions worldwide. This genus includes numerous species that inhabit a wide variety of environments, ranging from forests and grasslands to deserts and urban areas. Monomorium ants are generally small, slender insects that nest in soil, leaf litter, rotting wood, beneath stones, or within buildings. They are opportunistic foragers, feeding on seeds, nectar, honeydew, dead insects, and other organic materials.
