Genus Paratrechina comprises a small group of fast-moving ants in the family Formicidae that are distributed primarily in tropical and subtropical regions. Members of this genus are slender-bodied ants with long legs and antennae, traits that contribute to their rapid and erratic movements. The best-known species is Paratrechina longicornis, commonly called the longhorn crazy ant. Paratrechina ants typically nest in soil, leaf litter, rotting wood, under debris, and around buildings, where they forage opportunistically for sugary substances, dead insects, small arthropods, and other organic materials.
