Genus Corticea is a small genus of skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, occurring primarily in Mexico, Central America, and parts of tropical South America. These butterflies are generally small to medium-sized and exhibit the robust bodies, hooked antennae, and rapid, darting flight characteristic of skippers. Their wings are typically shades of brown, grey-brown, or dark tan, often marked with subtle pale spots or bands that provide camouflage when resting on vegetation or tree bark. Corticea species inhabit tropical forests, woodland edges, secondary growth, and tropical dry forests, where adults visit flowers for nectar and frequently perch on sunlit leaves.
