Genus Synapte is a small genus of Neotropical skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, occurring from Mexico and Central America into parts of South America. These butterflies are generally small to medium-sized, with dark brown wings marked by pale, translucent, or yellowish spots that are characteristic of many grass skippers. Like other members of the family, Synapte species possess sturdy bodies, hooked antennae, and a rapid, darting flight. They are typically associated with tropical dry forests, woodland edges, grassy clearings, and secondary growth habitats, where adults visit flowers for nectar and perch on low vegetation in sunny areas.
