Genus Troyus is a small genus of skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae that was established relatively recently following taxonomic and genetic studies of Neotropical skippers. Species formerly placed in other genera were reassigned to Troyus after researchers determined they represented a distinct evolutionary lineage. These butterflies are generally small to medium-sized, with dark brown wings marked by pale or translucent spots and the sturdy bodies, hooked antennae, and rapid flight typical of skippers. Troyus species inhabit tropical forests, woodland edges, secondary growth, and seasonally dry habitats from Mexico through Central America.
