Genus Chiomara is a genus of small to medium-sized skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, distributed from the southern United States and Mexico through Central America, the Caribbean, and into South America. These butterflies are typically dark brown to black with subtle pale spots or translucent markings on the wings, although some species display bluish or purplish iridescence under certain lighting conditions. Like other skippers, they are fast, agile fliers that frequent open woodlands, forest edges, tropical dry forests, scrublands, and gardens. Adults commonly visit flowers for nectar and may also obtain minerals from damp soil.
