Genus Thorybes is a genus of medium-sized skipper butterflies commonly known as the cloudywings, belonging to the family Hesperiidae. Distributed primarily throughout North America, Mexico, and parts of Central America, these butterflies are characterized by dark brown wings marked with small translucent white spots and a somewhat mottled appearance. Their rapid, darting flight and habit of perching with wings partly open are typical of many skippers. Thorybes species are most often found in woodland edges, open forests, meadows, roadsides, and shrublands, where adults visit flowers for nectar and frequently bask on low vegetation.
