Phylum Tracheophyta comprises the vascular plants, a vast group of land plants characterized by specialized conducting tissues known as xylem and phloem, which transport water, minerals, and nutrients throughout the plant. This adaptation allows vascular plants to grow larger and occupy a wide variety of terrestrial habitats. Tracheophytes include ferns, clubmosses, horsetails, conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, and flowering plants. Most possess true roots, stems, and leaves, enabling efficient absorption of resources and structural support. They range from tiny herbs to towering forest trees and dominate most of Earth's terrestrial ecosystems.
