Genus Monca is a small genus of grass skippers in the family Hesperiidae, occurring primarily in Mexico, Central America, and parts of tropical South America. These butterflies are generally small and inconspicuous, with brown to dark brown wings marked by subtle pale or translucent spots that provide effective camouflage among grasses and low vegetation. Like other skippers, Monca species possess stout bodies, hooked antennae, and a rapid, darting flight. They are typically associated with grasslands, forest edges, tropical dry forests, and other open habitats, where adults visit flowers for nectar and frequently perch on grasses or low shrubs.
