Dicot Skipper Butterflies of Zihuatanejo

GENUS MURGARIA

Genus Murgaria is a small genus of skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, found in the Neotropical region from Mexico through Central America and into northern South America. These butterflies are generally small and rather inconspicuous, with brown to dark brown wings marked by faint pale spots or translucent markings. Like other grass skippers, they have compact, muscular bodies, hooked antennae, and a rapid, darting flight. Murgaria species typically inhabit tropical dry forests, grassy clearings, forest edges, and secondary growth, where adults feed on flower nectar and rest on low vegetation.
