Grass Skipper Butterflies of Zihuatanejo

GENUS COPAEODES

Genus Copaeodes is a genus of very small grass skippers in the family Hesperiidae, distributed throughout much of North and Central America. These butterflies are characterized by their compact bodies, rapid low flight, and bright orange, yellow-orange, or tawny wing coloration often bordered with darker brown margins. Closely associated with grassy habitats, Copaeodes species are commonly found in meadows, prairies, marshes, roadside vegetation, agricultural fields, and open woodland clearings. Adults frequently perch on grass stems and visit small flowers for nectar.
