Genus Timochares is a small genus of Neotropical skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, distributed from Mexico and Central America through parts of South America. These butterflies are generally small to medium-sized and are characterized by dark brown to black wings marked with pale, translucent, or yellowish spots and bands. Like other skippers, they possess stout bodies, hooked antennae, and a rapid, darting flight. Timochares species are most commonly associated with tropical forests, woodland edges, secondary growth, and tropical dry forest habitats, where adults visit flowers for nectar and frequently perch on low vegetation in sunny clearings.
