Genus Paches is a small genus of Neotropical skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, found primarily in Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America. These butterflies are generally medium-sized, with dark brown to black wings marked by contrasting white, cream, or translucent spots that help distinguish them from related skippers. Like other members of the family, Paches species possess robust bodies, hooked antennae, and a rapid, darting flight. They are most often encountered in tropical dry forests, woodland edges, scrublands, and open forest habitats, where adults visit flowers for nectar and frequently perch on sunlit leaves.
