GENUS GANYRA
-
Genus Ganyra
Genus Ganyra is a genus of large white butterflies in the subfamily Pierinae of the family Pieridae, found from the southern United States and Mexico through Central America and into parts of South America. Commonly known as giant whites, these butterflies are among the largest members of the Pieridae and are characterized by broad white wings marked with gray, brown, or black along the margins and wing veins. Their strong, purposeful flight makes them conspicuous as they move through open habitats, forest edges, tropical dry forests, coastal scrub, and gardens.
