The Spot-tailed Dasher (Micrathyria aequalis) is a small to medium-sized skimmer dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. Micrathyria aequalis is commonly found around ponds, marshes, lakes, and slow-moving streams, where it perches on low vegetation or twigs close to the water and makes quick, darting flights to capture small flying insects. The species occurs from Mexico through Central America and into northern South America, favoring warm, open wetlands, and like other dashers, it is a diurnal aerial predator whose aquatic larvae live hidden among submerged plants and debris.
