Dragonflies and Damselflies (Order Odonata)
The Red Saddlebags (Tramea onusta) is a striking species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae, commonly known as the skimmers. It is native to North America, particularly prevalent in the southern United States, Mexico, and parts of Central America. Transparent wings with a distinct reddish-brown patch at the base of the hindwings, resembling "saddlebags," which gives the species its common name. Found near ponds, lakes, marshes, and slow-moving waters with abundant aquatic vegetation.
