Amblytropidia is a genus of small to medium-sized slant-faced grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, subfamily Gomphocerinae. They are agile, grass-associated insects commonly found in open habitats across the Americas. Amblytropidia grasshoppers have a distinctively slanted face, narrow head, and slender, elongate body. These grasshoppers are diurnal and highly active. When disturbed, they flush quickly with a jump followed by a short, low flight, then drop back into grass cover. Males produce soft stridulation songs by rubbing the hind femora against the forewings, usually during warm, sunny periods. They are alert and difficult to approach closely.
