Grasshoppers, Crickets, and Katydids (Order Orthoptera)

Grasshoppers, Locusts, and Allies (Suborder Caelifera)
This grasshopper has a slender, streamlined body with a strongly inclined (slant-faced) head, typical of gomphocerine grasshoppers. The overall coloration is usually tan, gray-brown, or yellowish, often with faint darker striping along the pronotum and sides of the body. These subdued tones provide excellent camouflage among dry grasses and open ground. The wings are well developed, extending to or beyond the tip of the abdomen, giving it better flight ability than many smaller slant-faced species.
