Chlorotettix leafhoppers are small, slender insects commonly found in grassy and agricultural habitats, especially where grasses and cereal crops grow. They are typically pale green to yellowish-green, a coloration that provides excellent camouflage among leaves and stems, and have narrow, wedge-shaped bodies with clear wings held roof-like over the back. Like other leafhoppers, they feed by piercing plant tissues and sucking sap, which can cause stippling, yellowing, or reduced vigor. Chlorotettix species are quick and alert, often jumping or flying away suddenly when disturbed, and are most active during warm conditions, making them a familiar but easily overlooked presence in grasslands and crop fields.
