Iphione - Bristle Worm
Iphione (Genus)
Iphione is a genus of marine scale worms—a distinctive group of bristleworms in the family Polynoidae. These polychaete worms are commonly found in shallow tropical and subtropical seas, especially around coral reefs, rocky shores, and sandy bottoms, where they hide under rocks, within crevices, or among coral rubble. The head of Iphione is relatively small and equipped with sensory structures, including antennae and palps, which help the worm navigate and detect food. Most species are nocturnal scavengers or predators, feeding on small invertebrates, organic debris, or carrion.
