The Mottled Owl (Strix virgata) is a medium-sized, secretive owl of the Americas, known for its deep hooting calls and subtly patterned plumage that blends perfectly with forest shadows. A versatile predator that feeds on:
Small mammals (mice, rats, bats), Birds, Reptiles and amphibians, and Large insects. It hunts mainly by perching silently and swooping down on prey.
