SUPERFAMILY PAPILIONOIDEA

Common Anastrus

Echelatus sempiternus

Echelatus sempiternus (formerly placed in Anastrus), commonly known as the Common Anastrus, is a skipper butterfly in the family Hesperiidae. This species is found in Mexico and Central America, where it inhabits tropical forests, edges, and shaded clearings. Adults are often observed perching quietly on leaves or tree trunks, making short, rapid flights before returning to the same spot. The caterpillars feed on leguminous plants (Fabaceae) and construct leaf shelters using silk.
