Genus Echelatus is a small genus of Neotropical skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, occurring from Mexico through Central America and into parts of South America. These butterflies are generally small to medium-sized, with dark brown wings marked by subtle pale or translucent spots and the compact, muscular bodies typical of skippers. Members of Echelatus inhabit tropical forests, woodland edges, secondary growth, and tropical dry forests, where they fly rapidly through sunny openings and frequently visit flowers for nectar.
