SUPERFAMILY PAPILIONOIDEA

Falcate Emesis

Emesis tenedia

Emesis tenedia, commonly known as the Falcate Metalmark, is a butterfly in the family Riodinidae. It is named for its distinctively curved (falcate) forewing tips, which give the wings a slightly hooked or swept-back appearance. The wings are typically orange to reddish-brown, crossed by fine, dark lines and bands characteristic of the genus Emesis. These delicate markings create an intricate, almost engraved pattern.
