Gesta invisus, commonly known as the False Duskywing, is a small, dusky-colored butterfly in the family Hesperiidae. It belongs to the group of spread-wing skippers. The wings are typically dark brown to gray-brown, with subtle pale spots or faint markings that can be difficult to see, giving the butterfly a rather plain appearance. The underside is mottled in shades of brown and gray, providing excellent camouflage when the butterfly rests with wings spread flat on leaves or the ground. This species is found in Mexico, Central America, and parts of the southern United States, inhabiting dry open areas, scrub, and woodland edges. Adults are often seen perching low on vegetation with wings fully spread, making short, quick flights when disturbed.
