Tribe Erynnini

Tribe Erynnini is represented by a rich diversity of skipper butterflies that inhabit habitats ranging from arid thorn scrub and tropical dry forests to pine-oak woodlands and cloud forests. These butterflies are typically small to medium-sized, with mottled brown, grey, or black wings that blend well with bark, rocks, and dead leaves, making them difficult to detect when at rest. Many species are active during warm, sunny conditions and fly rapidly along forest edges, trails, and clearings.
