Elbella scylla, commonly known as the Scylla Firetip, is a striking skipper butterfly in the family Hesperiidae. The “firetip” refers to the bright orange to reddish tip of the abdomen. Elbella scylla is found in Mexico and Central America, inhabiting tropical forests, edges, and clearings. Adults are often seen flying rapidly along forest paths or perching on leaves, where the bright forewing tips can be especially noticeable when the wings are open.
