Genus Elbella is a genus of Neotropical firetip skippers in the family Hesperiidae, distributed from Mexico and Central America through much of South America. Members of this genus are medium-sized, robust butterflies characterized by their rapid flight, dark blue to black wings, and often brightly coloured markings, especially red, orange, or yellow patches near the body that give firetips their common name. Species such as the Scylla Firetip occur from Mexico to Central America, while numerous other species inhabit tropical regions farther south. Elbella butterflies are most commonly found in tropical forests, forest edges, and seasonally dry woodlands, where adults visit flowers and perch on sunlit vegetation.
