Subfamily Papilioninae is the largest and most diverse subfamily within the family Papilionidae, comprising the majority of the world's swallowtail butterflies. Members of Papilioninae are typically medium- to large-sized butterflies known for their elegant flight, vivid coloration, and, in many species, the presence of tail-like extensions on the hind wings. They are distributed across tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions worldwide and inhabit a wide variety of environments, including forests, grasslands, wetlands, gardens, and mountain habitats.
