Ladies, Anglewings and Allies (Tribe Nymphalini) are a diverse group of brush-footed butterflies (family Nymphalidae) found throughout Mexico in habitats ranging from deserts and grasslands to mountain forests and tropical woodlands. This tribe includes the painted ladies, admirals, tortoiseshells, anglewings, and mourning cloaks, butterflies known for their strong flight, seasonal migrations, and striking wing patterns of orange, black, brown, blue, and white. Many species possess irregularly shaped or scalloped wing margins that help them resemble dead leaves or bark when at rest, particularly the anglewings.
