Tribe Papilionini is a prominent group of swallowtail butterflies (family Papilionidae) that is well represented throughout Mexico, from arid lowlands and tropical forests to temperate mountain regions. Members of this tribe are generally large, powerful butterflies known for their graceful flight, striking coloration, and, in many species, the tail-like extensions on the hindwings that give swallowtails their common name. Their wings often display bold combinations of yellow, black, blue, green, red, or orange, making them among the most conspicuous butterflies in the country.
