The genus Euptoieta is a group of medium-sized butterflies within the family Nymphalidae and the subfamily Heliconiinae. Species of Euptoieta are distributed throughout North, Central, and South America and are especially common in open habitats such as grasslands, meadows, roadsides, deserts, agricultural areas, and gardens. These butterflies are commonly known as fritillaries and are recognized by their orange to tawny-brown wings marked with black spots, lines, and bands. Unlike many other fritillaries, the undersides of their wings usually lack the prominent silvery spots seen in related genera.
