Subfamily Pierinae is the largest subfamily within the butterfly family Pieridae, comprising the whites, orange-tips, and many related butterflies. Members of Pierinae are generally medium-sized butterflies characterized by predominantly white, cream, yellow, or orange wings, often marked with black spots, borders, or vein patterns. They are distributed worldwide and inhabit a wide variety of environments, including forests, grasslands, meadows, wetlands, agricultural lands, and urban gardens.
