Grass Skipper Butterflies of Zihuatanejo

GENUS REMELLA

Genus Remella is a small genus of Neotropical skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, found from Mexico and Central America into parts of South America. These butterflies are generally small to medium-sized, with brown to dark brown wings marked by subtle pale or translucent spots and the compact, muscular bodies typical of skippers. Like many grass skippers, Remella species inhabit tropical dry forests, grasslands, woodland edges, and secondary growth habitats, where adults fly rapidly close to the ground and visit flowers for nectar.
