Genus Gesta is a genus of small to medium-sized skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, found from the southern United States and Mexico through Central America and into parts of South America. Members of this genus are typically brown, gray-brown, or tan, often marked with small pale or translucent spots that provide camouflage among grasses and low vegetation. Like other skippers, they possess stout bodies, hooked antennae, and a rapid, darting flight. Gesta species are most commonly associated with open habitats such as grasslands, savannas, roadsides, scrublands, agricultural fields, and tropical dry forests. Adults frequently visit flowers for nectar and often perch on grass stems or low shrubs.
