GENUS ITABALLIA
-
Genus Itaballia
Genus Itaballia is a genus of Neotropical white butterflies in the subfamily Pierinae of the family Pieridae, distributed from Mexico and Central America through much of South America. These medium-sized butterflies are typically white, cream, or pale yellow with dark gray, brown, or black markings along the wing margins and veins. Many species exhibit seasonal variation and subtle differences between males and females. Itaballia butterflies are most commonly found in tropical forests, woodland edges, secondary growth, and tropical dry forests, where adults fly actively through sunny openings and visit flowers for nectar.
