Genus Epargyreus
Genus Epargyreus is a genus of large, robust skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, distributed throughout the Americas from Canada and the United States through Mexico, Central America, and into South America. These butterflies are easily recognized by their dark brown wings marked with prominent pale or translucent spots and, in several species, distinctive silvery patches on the underside of the hindwings. Members of the genus are powerful, fast fliers that frequent forest edges, woodland clearings, gardens, roadsides, and tropical dry forests, where adults visit a wide variety of flowers for nectar.
