Genus Hypopachus is a small genus of narrow-mouthed frogs belonging to the family Microhylidae. These frogs are native to Mexico, Central America, and parts of the southern United States, where they inhabit grasslands, scrublands, forests, agricultural areas, and other seasonally wet environments. Members of Hypopachus are generally small, stout-bodied frogs with short limbs, smooth to slightly rough skin, and the narrow mouth characteristic of microhylid frogs. They are primarily terrestrial and often spend much of their lives hidden beneath soil, leaf litter, logs, or other ground cover, emerging mainly during rainy periods to feed and reproduce.

The Northern Sheep Frog (Hypopachus variolosus) is the the only species of Sheep Frog (Genus Hypopachus) documented in the Zihuatanejo area.
