Diet

• Adults: Feed primarily on pollen, nectar, fungi and tender plant tissues. Adults are often found on grasses and flowering vegetation.

• Larvae: Develop within plant stems, where they feed on internal plant tissues.

• The species' larval host plants are not extensively documented.

Range

• Langurites lineatus is a Neotropical lizard beetle distributed from Mexico through Central America and into northern South America.

• It occurs in tropical and subtropical regions of Mexico, including Guerrero and the Zihuatanejo area.

• The species is occasionally encountered around Zihuatanejo, particularly in areas with abundant grasses and herbaceous vegetation.

Habitat

• Found in tropical dry forest, tropical deciduous forest, grassland, woodland edges, agricultural areas and disturbed vegetation.

• Adults are generally found on grasses, flowers and low vegetation.

• Larvae remain concealed within plant stems, making them much less frequently observed than adults.

Size

• Adult length: approximately 6–10 mm (0.24–0.39 in).

• Body narrow and elongated, with a somewhat cylindrical form.

• Typically has contrasting reddish or orange colouring on the head and pronotum and darker, often bluish-black elytra.
