Nezara viridula, commonly known as the southern green stink bug is in the family Pentatomidae. It is easily recognized by its bright green, shield-shaped body, though some individuals may show slight colour variation, especially in cooler seasons. This species feeds using a piercing-sucking rostrum, inserting it into fruits, seeds, and stems to extract plant fluids.
