The infraorder Pentatomomorpha is one of the largest and most diverse groups within the suborder Heteroptera, comprising tens of thousands of species distributed worldwide. Members of this infraorder are primarily terrestrial and are best known as plant-feeding bugs, although some species are scavengers or predators. Pentatomomorphs typically possess well-developed piercing-sucking mouthparts used to feed on seeds, fruits, stems, leaves, or other plant tissues. They occur in a wide variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, deserts, wetlands, agricultural fields, and urban environments.
